Manifesto

Life is fragile, and many things in it don’t last. We as people are always reaching for things that do. We want things that are sturdy. Things that are forever. With so many things that are uncertain in this world, there’s comfort in knowing the things you have and care about will be okay no matter what comes your way. Durability is stability. And Displates are made to last.

Extension Ideas

Steel the Hollywood Sign: On the day the Steel the Art ads go live, we will wrap the famous Hollywood Sign in paper that resembles the steel-plating of the art in the ads. This will represent the endurance of the famous monument, while tying directly into the Displate campaign visually. This could also be continued with other monuments across the U.S. (everything from St. Louis Arch to the Giant Ball of Yarn).

Displate Gallery Show: Partnering with Gallery 1988 (or other appropriate, pop culture minded galleries), we will put on a show featuring exclusive, limited edition Displates. The profits from sales of these will go towards reforestation non-profits across the United States.

Displate Your Portrait: Displate will surprise a number of celebrities/influencers with Displates containing portraits painted of the celebrity/influencer done in collaboration with different viral artists on TikTok. The presentation of the displate will be edited with the creation of it into short, shareable content that Displate and the artist and celebrity can share across their social channels.

Steel the Statue of Liberty: Displate will paint the statue of liberty a steel color, covering up the green that New Yorkers are used to. The statue was originally a copper color, but turned green due to oxidation over time. “Steeling” The Statue of Liberty  will show that Displate can elevate art in a cool high tech way.

Displate on Display: For a cheeky stunt, Displate will team up with LACMA and the Chicago Institute of Art, replacing some of the most famous art works usually on display, with Displate versions of those pieces.

Black History Month x Displate: In honor of Black History Month Displate will do a collection of limited edition steel portraits featuring the work of Black artists like Basquiat, Faith Ringgold, Kihinde WIley, etc. Maybe this extension goes a bit further and takes over the Museum of African American Art. Displates will be displayed alongside the original works of art, positioning our product as the future of art.

Displates on Cloud Gate: What if we covered a famous piece of art with even more art? The famous bean sculpture in Chicago is made of metal. What if we mounted Displates all over it? Displates stick with magnets, we could cover the bean with Displates. Then, when we go to remove the metal art work, we can show how the magnets leave behind no damage to the Bean. Not only would this be a cool stunt, it would also show one of Displate’s key benefits. Maybe we do this during xmas. Instead of  “elf on a shelf" its “displates on cloud gate.”

Displates in an Earthquake Simulator: We will create a living room set decorated with Displates, traditional canvas artwork, framed photos, knick knacks, etc. This room will actually be an earthquake simulator. We will invite people into the set pretending that we are doing social media interviews with them. During the “interview” an earthquake will happen. We will create social media content showing how the Displates stay mounted to the walls no matter how high the magnitude of the earthquake is. All the other art will fall and be destroyed, while Displate rises from the ashes, unscathed by the tremor. Even if a few of the Displates fall, they won’t be damaged, showing how durable the product is in comparison to its competitors. This stunt will also have an organic shock value.
